integrative therapy in Ohio, North Carolina, Illinois, Washington
format
I currently offer virtual therapy, using a secure and HIPAA compliant platform. Group therapy sessions are held in Columbus, OH. Very limited spots may be available for me to come to your home for in-person sessions. These sessions are perfect if you have an infant. Rates vary depending on distance- please reach out.
Why teletherapy? There is a vulnerability and closeness that happens in the comfort of your own space. You'll also avoid the chaos that often follows the commute to and from an office. You'll get to start and end a session in a comfortable place. You can settle in your favorite chair with a cup of tea, and be in a place that makes you feel calm.
fees
Intake sessions are 75 minutes and cost up to $210.
Following sessions are up to $160 per 50 minute appointment.
I believe everyone deserves access to mental health support, regardless of financial circumstances. It's why I offer personalized pricing solutions if you need it and keep open a few scales for sliding fee clients. We'll work collaboratively to consider various aspects of your financial situation to determine a fee that feels sustainable to you. Reach out to find out more or with any questions.
cancellation policy
My cancellation policy is 24 hours from your scheduled session time. If you cannot make our session, please give notice before the 24 hours or you will be responsible for a cancellation fee.
insurance
Currently I accept Optum (UMR, UBH), United Health Care, Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Medical Mutual of Ohio, and Cigna plans.
I also accept FSA and HSA cards.
I am happy to provide proof of payment to submit for reimbursement for out-of-network coverage if I don't accept your insurance. Check with your insurance provider first to verify if superbills are accepted for out-of-network providers for reimbursement. I recommend calling the customer service number on the back of your card and speaking to a representative for details about your specific plan. Other helpful questions you may want to consider asking include: What is my out of network deductible? How much of my out of network deductible has already been met? What is my policy period? What is my coinsurance? How do I submit for reimbursement? How long do I have to submit my superbill? Often clients can receive a majority of their payment as reimbursement!
Insurance vs. Cash Pay: Understanding Your Options
When it comes to therapy, you have two main payment options: using insurance or paying out-of-pocket (cash pay). Each has its pros and cons:

Using Insurance
Pros:
-
Lower out-of-pocket costs per session
-
May make therapy more financially accessible
Cons:
-
Requires a mental health diagnosis for coverage
-
Limited privacy (diagnosis becomes part of your medical record)
-
Insurance may limit the number of sessions or type of treatment
When using insurance, a mental health diagnosis is required for coverage. This diagnosis becomes part of your permanent medical record, which may have implications for future insurance applications or employment.
Cash Pay
Pros:
-
Complete privacy (no diagnosis required)
-
Flexibility in treatment approach and duration
-
No need to navigate insurance bureaucracy
Cons:
-
Higher out-of-pocket costs per session
-
May not count towards your insurance deductible
With cash pay, you have more control over your treatment. There's no need for a formal diagnosis, and we can focus solely on your specific needs and goals without insurance constraints.
My Approach
I offer both insurance and cash pay options to ensure therapy is accessible to as many people as possible. For those using insurance, I'll work with you to determine an appropriate diagnosis if needed. For cash pay clients, we have more flexibility in our approach. Ultimately, the choice between insurance and cash pay is a personal one. I'm happy to discuss these options further to help you make the best decision for your situation. This section provides a balanced view of both options, highlighting the privacy concerns and diagnosis requirements associated with insurance, while also acknowledging the potential financial benefits. It also emphasizes your flexibility in offering both options.
How long does therapy typically last?
The duration of therapy varies depending on individual needs and goals. Some clients find relief in just a few sessions, while others benefit from longer-term therapy. We'll regularly review your progress and adjust our plan accordingly.

What can I expect in the first session?
The initial session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. We'll discuss what brings you to therapy, your goals, and any questions you may have. I'll also explain my approach and we'll determine if we're a good fit to work together.

How often will we meet?
Most clients start with weekly sessions. As you progress, we may adjust the frequency to biweekly or monthly sessions. We'll work together to determine the best schedule for your needs.

Is what I say in therapy confidential?
Confidentiality is a cornerstone of therapy. What you share in sessions is protected by law, with a few exceptions:
-
If there's a risk of harm to yourself or others
-
Suspected abuse of children or vulnerable adults
-
If required by court order
I'll always discuss these limits to confidentiality with you.
