brainspotting therapy in Ohio, Illinois, & North Carolina
What is Brainspotting?
Brainspotting is a powerful brain-body based therapy designed to help access, process, and release stored trauma, emotional pain, and distress.
It works by identifying "brainspots" - eye positions that correlate with emotional activation in theb rain- allowing deep healing to happen at a level often beyond words.
Brainspotting can support:
-Trauma (both "big T" and "small t" trauma)
-Anxiety and overwhelm
-Stress-related physical symptoms
-Grief and loss
-Performance anxiety (creative blocks, athletic performance, public speaking, etc)
-Chronic emotional patterns that feel "stuck"
How It Works
During a Brainspotting session, we work together to locate a brainspot connected to the issue you're working on. This process taps into the brain's natural ability to heal itself- allowing for deep, somatic processing without needing to "think your way through" every experience.
You are always in control during the process. Brainspotting is a gentle and client-led therapy that respects your pace and your nervous system's needs.
My Training and Approach
I have completed Phase 1 Brainspotting Training, which provides foundational skills in using this powerful method. I integrate these techniques thoughtfully and ethically into our work when appropriate.
Brainspotting can be offered as:
-a stand-alone session (as clinically appropriate)
-integrated into ongoing individual therapy
-a resource for trauma processing alongside other approaches (ACT, somatic therapy, mindfulness, etc.)
If Brainspotting seems like a good fit for your goals, we'll discuss it together and move at a pace that feels safe and supportive for you.
Is Brainspotting Right for Me?
Brainspotting can be a meaningful option if:
-you've tried traditional talk therapy and feel something deeper is still unresolved
-you notice body-based symptoms of stress or trauma
-you want a way to process experiences without having to re-tell or relive them verbally
-you're optn to a mind-body based approach to healing
Not every client needs or prefers Brainspotting- and that's ok. It's simply one tool available in our work together to help support your healing in the most aligned way possible.
